International. The chemical company DuPont announced that it has reached an agreement to sell to Carlyle Group the division of paints aimed at the transportation and automotive sector.
As revealed by the company in an official statement, DuPont Performance Coatings (DPC) was sold for US $ 4,900 million, an operation that was subject to closing conditions and regulatory issues and is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2013.
The turnover of DPC, a division that currently has about 11,000 workers, is expected for this year at about US $ 4,000 million.
The company's President and CEO, Ellen Kullman, commented that "the business continues to grow and deliver solid results. However, after careful review, we have determined that DPC's growth potential is best realized outside of DuPont and through the sale to Carlyle."
