International. Global demand for adipic acid, the most widely used dicarboxylic acid from an industrial point of view and which is in applications as a raw material for paints and coatings, is expected to increase by 4% between 2013 and 2018.
In 2011 the global demand for this chemical reached 3,000 kilo tons and its largest commercialization is presented in the Asia-Pacific market, followed by Europe and North America and together they cover 90% of the market.
The use of adipic acid in paints and coatings is not in a large percentage of consumption, as it is for the production of Nylon 6.6, which reported 85% of the total market demand in 2011, followed by polyurethane resins.
