United States. The industry does not stop working to generate new developments. On this occasion, scientists from the Chemical Division of the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory created a two-component siloxane based on a non-slip coating for use on the decks and aisles of ships of the national navy.
The researchers claim that the new coating is more durable, retains color, is resistant to chemicals and is cheaper, because it has a longer life expectancy than traditional epoxy-based coatings.
According to a member of the team of scientists, the new coating has greater exterior durability in operating environments, improved traction capabilities, ease of application and a longer life that reduces the total cost of the elements compared to current coatings with epoxy and amine components.
Now the researchers' goal is to extend the service life of the anti-slip systems. This includes identifying and/or testing the next generation of non-epoxy alternatives that extend overall roof performance and improve heat resistance issues.
