Colombia. Due to the recent Free Trade Agreement that Colombia made with the United States, the paints and coatings industry must improve its competitiveness if it does not want to get out of business because of the easy entry of products from the North American country.
One of the options that manufacturers and distributors of paints have is to certify or accredit their products through quality policies that allow them to know if what they sell, guarantees their effectiveness and efficiency.
Precisely, INPRA LATINA visited the Laboratory of Tests for furniture of the National Learning Service (SENA), located in the headquarters of Itagüí (near the city of Medellín, Antioquia), and which specializes in the analysis of coatings under the NTC – ISO – IEC – 17025 standard, with which it determines, from different tests, if a product meets these requirements, which gives it a more reliable quality guarantee.
There it was known that the Laboratory implements different methods for quality purposes that allow the Determination of viscosity, covering power, adhesion, percentage of solids, chemical resistance, gloss, dry film thickness, pencil hardness, among others.
Global competition, business market strategy, standardized processes, facilities in imports and exports, among others, are the benefits that according to SENA this mechanism offers when carrying out a test within its laboratories.
