China. Bayer MaterialScience reported that it has among its plans the construction of a new production plant on a global scale in Shanghai, China, for the creation of isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), a raw material for coatings.
The investment amounts to about 65 million euros (about US$93 million) and is planned to open in 2015. The project is part of the company's project in global investment with a total volume of approximately one billion euros (about US$1.4 billion) for the expansion of its production capacity in China. That's why Bayer MaterialScience's total investment in China amounts to more than three billion euros (about $4.2 billion).
(IPDI) is used as a raw material in polyurethane coatings for applications such as automotive finishing.
