A new variety of aluminum-based pigments that help generate significant energy savings in homes is being marketed in Latin America.This type of pigment is used for the formulation of both interior and exterior paints. In the first case, up to 50% of the thermal radiation is reflected, which implies a great advance compared to traditional paints that absorb 95% of the radiation without the possibility of recovering it.
Lyzda Romo, sales manager for the paint area of Eckart, one of the companies that produces these compounds explained that special pigments to achieve energy savings can be used in both water-based and solvent formulations and, with some additives, adaptation can be achieved for almost any surface.
