Latin America. Chemicals company Dow announced it will increase the price for some of its products including glacial acrylic acid, butyl acrylate, methyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate and 2-ethyl hexyl acrylate, also known as acrylic monomers or acrylates.According to the company, price increases will be effective from april 1, 2009, or when contracts allow.
These increases are in addition to the increase of five cents per pound decreed since the first of March by the company, for some of these inputs in the United States.
The price per metric ton of each of the inputs listed in Latin America will be US$110.
"Prices of materials derived from crude are once again on the rise, due to the impact that the global economy has fallen," said Mark Bassett, global head of the acrylate division at Dow Chemical. "We must apply these increases to restore our margins and maintain continuity of supply," he said.
