International. At the next European Coatings trade fair to be held from 21 to 23 April 2015 in Nuremberg, Bayer MaterialScience will be presenting its new polyaspartic raw materials for solvent-free coating formulations that can be applied with a roller.
The company said these raw materials are so flexible that they can even cover cracks that have formed in the concrete. This property is particularly important for floor covering applications in the exterior areas of buildings.
According to Bayer, polyaspartic technology is suitable for the cost-effective application of coatings to a range of different substrates. In contrast to conventional systems, this technology often requires fewer layers of coating and curing is carried out quickly.
Polyaspartic coatings have also proven useful in protecting wind turbines, bridges, industrial plants, and agricultural and construction machinery from corrosion, and in automotive repair coatings. They are also being used as floor coverings, although there is still some work to be done in terms of their application and cost-effectiveness.
