Germany. Specialty chemical company Clariant developed new light-stabilizing solutions to make water-based coatings the new high-performance, environmentally-oriented option for outdoor protection applications, which was previously an exclusive area for solvent systems.
The new technology optimizes light stabilization in transparent and pigmented water-based coatings. Now the company is looking to increase its share in premium segments such as exterior wood coatings, as well as high-end industrial and automotive coatings.
Hostavin 3330 disp XP is a high-load water-based dispersion of a triazine-class UV absorber, the latest generation of UV absorbers. Formulated with a UV absorption content of 52%, it provides a significant improvement in UV protection for water-based systems.
In addition, it offers high thermal stability and superior durability for a longer service life, showing high extinction in the protection of thin layers. It does not contain any VOC compounds and its excellent compatibility with binders makes it easy to incorporate and handle by paint producers.
