International. A new review covers recent research that has led to advances in the mechanisms of forming environmentally compatible chemical conversion coatings for zinc.
This review of the study includes analysis on the thermodynamic stability of chemical systems, the illumination of intermediate reactions, the characterization of the compositions of the elements of the coatings and the deduction by mechanisms of formation of coatings.
Eco-friendly conversion treatments have attracted great interest in corrosion protection of Zn-based materials and considerable work has been done in the development of advanced conversion coatings. However, the full range of mechanisms of formation of these coatings is not fully understood, it is necessary to understand the mechanisms of coating formation, from coating methodologies to the fundamentals.
Among the advances mentioned, representative surface treatment techniques stand out, including phosphate coating, molybdate coating, rare earth coating, vanadate coating, IV (B) metal coating and silane coating.
Finally, the study focuses on the strategies used to develop new technologies in conversion treatments, discussions on trends and future perspectives of intelligent design solutions and advanced analytical methods for training processes.
