International. The manufacturer of measuring equipment, DeFelsko, announced its latest innovation, which is the PosiTector RTR P. The PosiTector RTR series measures and records surface profile parameters using the TestexTM Press-O-FilmTM Replica Tape.
The new patented product uses image sensors to measure the high density information (Pd) contained in the replica tape, in addition to the maximum height.
Advanced models are capable of generating 3D/2D images and SDF (Surface Data File) files of the replicated surface. Color and black-and-white 2D and 3D images are ideal for inclusion in reports and to confirm a consistent burst profile. A high-resolution SDF can be imported using third-party import software for closer examination at a much lower cost than interferometric or confocal profile devices.
With a single measurement, this instrument produces a more accurate measurement over the entire range of Coarse and X-Coarse tapes. There is no need to average two or more replicas as required with analog micrometers.
