Germany. BASF announced that it is expanding its production capacity of around 20 specialty amines at its Verbund headquarters in Ludwigshafen. The company will invest in the expansion of the current production facilities, which is expected to be gradually operational in early 2017.
Specialty amines are used for the manufacture of coatings, lubricants, crop protection products and pharmaceuticals. With this investment, BASF strengthens its amine production network worldwide, with plants in Ludwigshafen and Schwarzheide, Germany; in Antwerp, Belgium; in Geismar, Louisiana; and in Nanjing, China.
"This investment will allow us to meet the growing demand that our European customers have for specialty amines," said Stefan Blank, division president of BASF Intermediates.
In March and April 2014, BASF announced the construction of two new multi-product plants for the manufacture of specialty amines at BASF Verbund's headquarters in Ludwigshafen, Germany, and Nanjing, China, where it is estimated that the start will take place this year.
