Brazil. Lubrizol Corp. announced the acquisition of the Brazilian company EcoQuimica Industria e Comercio Produtos Quimica Ltda., manufacturer and supplier of coating technologies for products sold in decorative paints, textiles, cement, elastomeric and paper coatings.
Headquartered in Paulínia, a municipality in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, EcoQuimica (formerly under common ownership with Mercia Industria e Comercio Produtos Quimica Ltda.) will expand its presence in the Latin American market.
In addition, Lubrizol has recently acquired the land adjacent to the EcoQuimica facility to support future expansion. "With the combined property located in a prime location, in São Paulo, Lubrizol plans to expand with the addition of a storage facility and an applications and technical services laboratory," said Gilson Santos, Lubrizol Vice President, Latin America.
EcoQuimica is now part of Lubrizol Advanced Materials, reporting on Lubrizol's high-performance coatings business. This transaction includes all of EcoQuimica's intellectual property, trademarks and customer lists. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
