International. PPG Industries reported that the paint brand it owns, Glidden, is managed in Central America, since January 1, by its subsidiary PPG Comex, from Panama.
On December 31, the Colombian company Pintuco ended its franchise relationship with Glidden in Panama, so PPG can now operate the Central American company. Executives of the U.S. firm confirmed that this company will continue in Panamanian territory and that they will now seek to strengthen it and give it greater exposure.
In statements published by the newspaper estrategiaynegocios.net, Diego Gonzalo Foresi, general director for Latin America of PPG Industries, explained that at the moment the company is creating a new portfolio of products for the local market and analyzing the market trend there. "Next year we are going to open between 10 and 20 stores. In Panama alone, Comex has nine stores of its own where both brands will be offered," said Foresi.
