Mexico. The National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) published a report that indicates that the volume of production of paints reached 443 million liters in the period from January to August of this year, which resulted in an increase of 5.7% being the highest variation in the last four years.
In terms of sales, the sector recorded a historic figure reaching the figure of US $ 1,300 million during the same period of the current year, increasing its results by 7.8% compared to 2013.
Companies such as Akzo Nobel, PPG Industries, Sherwin Williams, Axalta and BASF, the five largest paint companies in the world, according to the World Paint & Coatings Industry Association, confirmed that they will continue to execute more investments in this country taking advantage of the positive momentum of the sector.
In statements published by the newspaper El Finaciero de México, Adriana Macouzet, president of Northern Latin America of the US PPG Industries, said that "we recognize the potential of Mexico, as it is in the second place of consumption of paints of any type (decorative and industrial) in Latin America, with a market value of approximately 28,500 million pesos."
