Mexico. Axalta Coating Systems, a global supplier of liquid and powder coatings, announced its commitment to invest US$10.5 million in Tlalnepantla, Mexico, to expand the capacity to produce resins used in the manufacture of transport coatings.
The investment is intended to improve and expand the capacity of the Tlalnepantla operations center, one of the three manufacturing centers for Axalta in Mexico, and the headquarters of the company's business in Latin America.
"This investment underscores the company's commitment to supporting our continued growth in Mexico with locally produced coatings," said Jorge Cossio, President of Latin America for Axalta. "The investment will support Axalta customers in the OEM light vehicle and commercial transportation market. In addition to manufacturing products for Mexico, the expansion also allows Axalta to better serve the overall market in the Americas."
For his part, Adrán Fuentes Villalobos, head of the Economic Development Office of the Ministry of Economic Development of the State of Mexico, commented that "the Ministry is pleased to help sustain Axalta's long-standing commitment to our community through our program of tax and education incentives that help create a favorable climate for global companies that build and expand in the State. Our growth builds on and benefits from the employment and skills creation that companies like Axalta bring, providing an engine for economic expansion."
