International. The chemical company Lanxess began the construction of its new facilities for the manufacture of premium red iron oxide pigments that will be located in the Chinese city of Ningbo.
The company's investment will be 55 million euros, which will initially have a capacity of 25,000 metric tons per year. The new facility will be introduced for the first quarter of 2015 and will generate 150 new jobs.
"The Ningbo plant meets the highest environmental standards. Using world-class environmental protection technology in China allows us to set a new benchmark for the production of iron oxide pigments. All this, especially in terms of water treatment, exhaust gas cleaning and energy consumption," said Natalie Chen, general manager of pigments at Lanxess (Ningbo).
