International. The Dürr company supplied a new paint plant for Shanghai General Motors (SGM) that will allow the manufacturer to work with 20 bodies per hour.
The plant called Eco+Paintshop has lower energy consumption and emissions, and can double its working capacity at any time. The first application is carried out with 20 painting robots of the type EcoRP L133 and EcoRP L030. The base layer and the transparent layer are applied by 44 paint robots using intermittent Stop&Go operation.
All robots are equipped with the EcoBell2 rotary paint atomizer. Before starting the painting process, the bodies are prepared and cleaned of impurities by an ionization portal and with feather rollers of the EcoClean exterior cleaning system.
Another feature of this paint plant is that it has dry separation from excess paint, which saves up to 60% of energy by the wide recirculation of air in the paint booth.
SGM said that starting in June 2015, Cadillac's premium vehicles will be painted in Shanghai.
