International. AkzoNobel's aerospace coatings line was rated by the Aerospace Material Specifications (AMS 3095A) for its paint system known as Direct to Metal (DTM).
This system eliminates the need to use some type of metal pre-treatment such as the first Alodine, Solgel or Wash technologies. The first is applied directly to the substrate known as Scotch-Brited and itself provides the necessary adhesion and corrosion resistance to meet the strict requirements of the specifications.
The DTM system is the first of its kind to receive the rating, passing SAE aerospace standards testing for high-gloss exterior painting systems aimed at commercial fleet maintenance.
DTM can be applied on any type of commercial aircraft (no matter the weather) and anywhere in the world, reducing process times and simplifying maintenance costs.
