International. Automaker Ford announced it will modify its painting processes to be efficient at four new plants located on three continents.
As reported by Europa Press, Ford has had a procedure called 3-Wet since 2007 that reduces the use of solvents and CO2 emissions. It currently has eight manufacturing sites that use it in regions such as Asia-Pacific, Europe and North America.
Ford expects that by the end of 2013, twelve manufacturers will use the 3-Wet. "The 3-Wet paint process is significantly more advanced than conventional technologies in applying durable paints with high quality, in an environmentally friendly and cost-efficient way," said Bruce Hettle, Director of Production Engineering at Ford.
