Holland. AkzoNobel signed an agreement to provide advanced paint technology to McLaren Automotive, which was built by its existing corporate alliance with the Formula 1 team, Vodafone McLaren Mercedes (VMM).
Through its automotive paint brand, Sikkens, the multinational company has been the official supplier to VMM since 2008. The new agreement now extends their relationship to include road cars and offer their LED paint solutions for MP4-12C and MP4-12C Spider vehicles, as well as P1 vehicles when they enter production.
The vehicles produced by McLaren Automotive have characteristics similar to those of Formula 1, as they require coatings that must meet rigorous technical standards, such as keeping weight to an absolute minimum.
