Colombia. Overseeing compliance with contracts, standards and proper handling of coatings is the main function of an auditor, as is Juan Manuel Álvarez of Nace Colombia. In his lecture: Interventoría en la aplicación de coatings, Álvarez explained to the attendees the importance of continuous training, as well as the theoretical background and practical support that every professional who wishes to be an auditor must have.
"What we can understand, we can more easily control," said the speaker, also stating that the intervention process has economic, social, legal and ecological impacts.
Regarding this last point, an issue that is now essential in any industry, Juan Manuel warns about the management of legality and compliance with generic environmental standards such as ISO 14,000 and safety standards such as ISO 18,000, in addition to the laws of each country, so that the actions of the company in which the audit is carried out does not generate any social unrest or in its environment, or breaches any regulations.
"An audit has different connotations, especially with regard to the control of processes and the good practices that are inferred from them," he emphasized.
