. Last June, the active surface additive BYK-3550® was awarded the BYK Innovation Award 2009 for its innovative approach, high market suitability and teamwork. These three elements made the panel of judges decide on this solution when it was time to deliver the award, which has been awarded for three years.
The BYK-3550® is based on the macromere technology developed and patented by BYK. The team that created the product was able to devise a solution that combined acrylate and the properties of silicone. Depending on the polarity of the system, the solution exhibits its different properties.
If used in high polarity coatings, silicone delivers high anti-crater properties without increasing surface slippage. In non-polar systems, conventional silicone additives have a negative impact on repainting.
The ACRYLATE series of BYK ® -3550, provides the possibility of repainting these systems, as well as a connection flow with the anti-lock properties to provide pending repainting in such systems, in addition to an excellent flow in relation to the distinctive anti-lock properties.
