Panama. The Association for the Protection and Performance of Materials (AMPP) announced the start of the LatinCORR + Pan-American Corrosion Conference, which will be held on July 17 and 18 at the Hilton Panama hotel. This is the first time that two high-level regional conferences on corrosion have been held together, under one roof.
The event brings together professionals from multiple sectors, including oil and gas, marine, infrastructure and energy, around a technical program that addresses topics such as cathodic protection, coatings, corrosion mechanisms, asset integrity and sustainability.
The conference will feature the participation of the Director General of AMPP, Alan Thomas, who will give the keynote speech entitled "The State of AMPP and the Prevention of Corrosion in Latin America". Among the outstanding presentations are: "Corrosion management and integrity planning in maritime and energy terminals: a strategic contribution to global sustainability objectives", by Juan Caballero, and "Shaping the future of infrastructure: advancing integrity and suitability", a panel chaired by Edwin Enrique Soria Juárez.
Juan Caballero, president of the conference and of the AMPP Board of Directors, said that this initiative seeks to "strengthen regional collaboration, raise professional standards and inspire the next generation of leaders in material protection."
The event will offer more than 60 technical presentations, panels on trends and good practices, two practical workshops, exhibitions of technological solutions, and networking sessions. Likewise, Professional Development Hours (PDH) will be granted and free passes were enabled for students and teachers as part of a strategy to support the development of technical talent in the region.
The program also highlights discussions such as "Navigating the Future of Maritime Integrity: How the Resurgence of U.S. Shipbuilding Is Shaping Global Norms, Workforce Development, and Latin American Opportunities in the New Maritime Economy."
The LatinCORR + Panamericana conference represents a technical and professional meeting space that, according to the AMPP, seeks to contribute to "a more resilient and sustainable future throughout Latin America and beyond."
