Mexico. The Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP) signed a collaboration agreement with the civil association SoluPint, with the aim of supporting the coatings industry in Mexico by carrying out assessment tests, developing technical courses and strengthening the practical training of its students.
The agreement was finalized within the framework of the commemoration of the 85th anniversary of the founding of UDLAP and the 55th anniversary of its campus in Puebla. SoluPint, an organization made up of coatings manufacturers, will work together with the university to share resources and applied technical knowledge.
"We are committed to providing quality services to the industry with equipment that the university has of the first line so that manufacturers who do not have this type of laboratories can come to us and different analyses are done that include marine paints for houses and pipes, in order to validate the thickness, quality or duration," explained Dr. René Alejandro Lara Díaz, Vice Chancellor for Research, Graduate Studies and Extension at UDLAP.
The agreement also contemplates the joint development of courses on the use of laboratory equipment and technical topics aimed at SoluPint members. Students from the School of Science and Engineering of UDLAP will be able to approach industry practices through these activities.
"I believe that it is a way to demonstrate that we know how to work with the industry together and that both institutions can benefit," said Dr. Lara Díaz.
Javier Guillermo Maldonado Moctezuma, president of SoluPint, stressed that the agreement will allow manufacturers in the sector to carry out tests to guarantee the quality of their coatings.
"This agreement makes quality laboratories available to all manufacturers, which will help them continue to grow," he said.
The Management of UDLAP Consultores will be responsible for the design of the training programs derived from the agreement, ensuring their academic and technical relevance.
