International. PPG announced its adherence to Make it Zero, a global initiative developed by the European DIY Retailers Association and the Global Home Improvement Network to reduce scope 3* greenhouse gas emissions in the DIY (DIY) sector.
As part of this commitment, PPG's Architectural Coatings division in Europe, Australia and New Zealand has adhered to the initiative's decarbonization goals, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
PPG joins the group of DIY retailers and suppliers to address the challenges associated with indirect emissions along the value chain. As part of the initiative's working group, PPG contributes to the development of clear and consistent methodologies for collecting and measuring carbon data, sharing reporting best practices, and accelerating progress to reduce scope 3 emissions.
"As a key player in the DIY retail industry, we recognize the importance of collaboration across the value chain," said Sarah Trowse, PPG's partner for customer sustainability in Architectural Coatings.
He added: "We share the responsibility to reduce the industry's carbon footprint and are committed to collaborating with our customers and suppliers to achieve these goals. By reducing our scope 3 emissions and joining this working group, we support our customers' sustainability ambitions, drive a portfolio of low-carbon paints and coatings, and strengthen our customer relationship."
This initiative underscores PPG's commitment to sustainability and aligns with its 2030 sustainability goals, which include scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions reduction targets, validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
