Axalta earns two honors at the 2025 Edison Awards

International. During the 38th edition of the Edison Awards, Axalta Coating Systems earned Silver and Bronze awards in the Automotive Materials industry for its Axalta Irus ScanTM and MyColor technologies, respectively.

With these recognitions, Axalta has received awards from the Edison Awards jury, made up of industry leaders, academics, and specialists in design and innovation, for seven years in a row.

"Innovation is critical at Axalta, and we continually invest to help our customers solve challenges in surface aesthetics, performance and productivity," said Dr. Robert Roop, the company's Chief Technology Officer. "We take great pride in delivering cutting-edge technologies that meet our customers' needs and enable them to succeed. It is an honor to be recognized by the esteemed Edison team and to work with Axalta's extraordinary talent to make these products a reality."

Axalta Irus Scan, distinguished with the Silver award, is a portable device for the evaluation of color in automotive coatings. It incorporates three patented characteristics: color luminosity, identification of pigments with tonal variation and gloss evaluation. This technology makes it easy to accurately match colors on vehicles that have undergone post-crash repair processes, and is a component of Axalta's digital color management system. According to the company, this development sets a new standard in productivity and waste reduction in the automotive refinish sector.

MyColor, which received the Bronze Award, was developed to respond to the demand for customized and complex colors from original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Its color delivery process allows colors to be approved and produced in a period of four weeks, in contrast to traditional times ranging from 26 to 104 weeks. According to Axalta, the system uses pre-mixed bases and dyes to reduce waste and the CO₂ footprint in paint shops, while improving inventory control.

The Edison Awards, named in honor of Thomas Edison, were presented in Fort Myers, Florida. Since 1987, the distinction has recognized developments that represent significant advances in technology and business innovation.
