Argentina. Color and art take over the Abasto Cultural Neighborhood again to share their transformative power with the incorporation of 100 m2 of murals, from the donation of more than 300 liters of paint.
"Por el barrio", the initiative of Ciudad Cultural Konex to beautify the corners that are in the Abasto neighborhood, together with the transformative power of the colors of Alba Pinturas and five artists, five new murals were created.
With the firm belief that art and color add value and improve people's lives, this project made its way thanks to the support of the Patronage of the City of Buenos Aires.
The chosen theme is a creative exploration that fuses the organic, vegetal and geometric transforming them into captivating abstract expressions. The murals occupy spaces of approximately 6x3 meters, mainly on walls, but also extend to some metal curtains.
This year's artists are Anne Gabillot, Mabel Vicentef, Dana Alessi, Mart Aire and Federico Minuchin and the works can be found at Valentín Gómez 3132, Valentín Gómez 3136, Sarmiento 3140, Jean Jaures 387 and Jean Jaures 331.
The artistic project "Por el barrio" emerged in 2016 as a way to contribute to the community that inhabits the city, and also for those who visit it daily.
And once again, Abasto Cultural Neighborhood becomes the scene of this union of wills to bring to the neighbors sensations that resignify.
Colour has a transformative power in people's lives and that is why AkzoNobel, through its Alba brand and within the framework of its global program "Come to Colour" accompanies this proposal that shows how colour, culture and art can transform a community.
"At AkzoNobel, within the framework of our global program Come to Color, we bring our colors to life in cities around the world, and Abasto is no exception," said Fernando Domingues, General Manager of Decorative Paints at AkzoNobel for the Southern Cone.
And he added: "These murals are in addition to the one already done with Mabel Vicentef in Konex, and the more than 600 linear meters in the largest floor artwork in Buenos Aires, and the 1500 m2 of murals created by a collective of talented women artists in Abasto Barrio Cultural (program of the Ministry of Culture of the City of Buenos Aires), made with the collaboration of neighbours and together with Alba Pinturas".
"The intention was to choose five contemporary urban artists whose styles dialogue with each other. We think of works that prioritize shapes, landscapes and powerful colors. We thought of creating a route that is completed with each of the walls. The shapes and landscapes of Mabel Vicentef and Anne Gabilliot enhance each other and merge with the textures of Mart and the abstract landscape of Dana Alessi, the tour is completed with the work of Fede Minuchin," explained Noel Yolis, Programming Manager at Konex.
