Dow, Pinturas Berel and United Way Mexico Improve Educational Infrastructure

Mexico. Dow, together with Pinturas Berel and United Way Mexico, developed the project "Give a hand to your school" aimed at improving educational infrastructure, repainting 17 schools belonging to the Multiple Care Centers (CAM) in eight states of Mexico.

The organizations developed a business model aligned with a vision of shared value, which generates positive social impact and at the same time fosters innovation in the paint market.

On the one hand, Dow will support with acrylic technology that improves the quality of the paint, providing greater durability and resistance. Given the humid climates faced by the regions where the Centers are located, it also reduces the appearance of fungi and damp spots.

For its part, Pinturas Berel was responsible for the production and supply of 6,500 liters of paint, while United Way Mexico oversaw the coordination of the project.

The "Give a hand to your school" project contributed to the improvement of the infrastructure of 17 schools located in Veracruz, Tabasco, Chiapas, Mérida, Quintana Roo, Mexico City, Jalisco and Campeche, through the application of paint and preparation of surfaces for its application.

Additionally, volunteers from the organizations and the community contributed with wall repair and cleaning, scraping off old paint, repairing cracks, applying acrylic sealant, painting, finishing finishes, and post-application cleaning.

Verónica Pérez, president of Dow Mexico and the North Latin America Region, said: "At Dow we are very excited to support these initiatives, hand in hand with these great allies with whom we generate projects that have a positive impact on the different Mexican communities."

"Likewise, we offer our employees the opportunity to give back to the communities in which they live and work through volunteering, thus adding to our commitments and priorities as a company in terms of Global Citizenship," he added.

In this context, Luis Rodríguez, CEO of Grupo Berel, highlighted the organization's alignment with the initiative: "By providing high-quality products, we are returning color to Educational Centers in a lasting way, reflecting our purpose as a company. Our collaboration not only visually transforms, but also reaffirms our commitment to improving communities' educational environments."

Dow supports this project through the company's Business Impact Fund, which helps solve societal challenges and promote sustainable solutions using Dow's technology and expertise and through multi-partner collaboration.

Created in 2016, this Fund brings together nonprofits, clients, and employees to address many of the biggest challenges facing communities.

According to the company, beyond improving the infrastructure of schools in Mexico, this collaboration between Dow, Pinturas Berel and United Way Mexico, seeks to promote inclusive education for all and create facilities that provide a safer and more comfortable learning environment for children in the region.

"This project will generate a positive impact on the different communities and will contribute to more people joining the educational transformation of Mexico," says the company.
