Colombia. Pintuco, a brand of Decorative Paints of the company AkzoNobel, carried out the project "Lazos de Vida" (Life Links) that benefits 46 music students and 500 children and adolescents from the Bello Oriente neighborhood of Medellín, thanks to the recovery of the music room and the sports court.
The project was achieved in partnership with the Pintuco Foundation, the Colombian Society of Architects Antioquia section, INS Architectural Future and the Caminos Foundation with the aim of encouraging the innovation capacity of professionals working in design and architecture.
"We firmly believe in the multiple advantages of playing sports, playing musical instruments, but these places where these activities are carried out should motivate people to do so," said Wilmar Quintero, director of the Caminos Foundation.
"That is why this project called Lazos de Vida is so important, which gives us the opportunity to give our young people, our students, adequate spaces so that they can develop their life project," Quintero said.
According to Miguel Ayala, director of the Pintuco Foundation, "the winner had to conceptualize and materialize a creative proposal, responding to a problem of the community, which in this case was that, due to the economic dynamics of the territory, many of the participants benefiting from the projects of the Caminos Foundation did not have adequate places within their homes to develop their talents."
For his part, Juan Camilo Pinzón, architect at INS Architectural Future, said: "Perhaps to see the future we have to understand that design has an impact on quality of life; That's why we focus on developing transformative projects, which turn reality into a more equitable place for everyone."
"As architects we have a responsibility to the world and beyond what we know or what we build; It's about how we help and how we materialize dreams and improve lives," he added.
In turn, Juan Simón Quintero, architect of INS Architectural Future, highlighted that "this stage becomes a civic and integrating space that through color and architecture allows the community to develop different skills and mold the character and identity of the children and people of the place, generating links through sports. music, and art."
