Mexico. The National Association of Paint and Ink Manufacturers (Anafapyt) celebrates 79 years of history.
After commemorating the anniversary of different companies and associations, as it has done this same day with Corpamex, the Association had its turn.
Currently, it is chaired by Marcelo E. Herrera Díaz and directed by Flor de María González Mariblanca, the first woman to hold this position within the organization. In addition, it has a Board of Directors and Governance.
The organization is made up of 118 commercial partners (formerly suppliers), 76 manufacturers of paints and coatings, as well as 8 inks; That is, 202 partners in total, who encompass more than 80% of national production, together generate more than 12,700 jobs and annual sales exceeding 69,700 million pesos, which has boosted competitiveness and encouraged the development of the sector.
This anniversary is also framed by the realization of the Annual Convention, which has been held since 1947 and took place in Cancun last August. It is one of the most important events in the paints, inks and coatings industry, because it provides an overview to decision makers in the sector and allows them to establish business relationships with manufacturers and suppliers during the exhibitor fair.
Precisely, in her speech within the framework of the Convention, Flor de María González remarked: The paints, inks and coatings industry must make a difference in Mexico by anticipating and being at the forefront in the development and harmonization of standards, participating in the elaboration of technical standards and regulations, assisting the authorities in their implementation and market surveillance, to be a benchmark in Latin America and help nearshoring to be a spearhead for Mexico with its North American trading partners."
Throughout 2023, Anafapyt has strengthened its link with organizations such as The American Society to expand the representativeness of associates and generate more networking opportunities that favor the industry, which was crystallized, thanks to the participation of Flor de María González herself in the Committee of Government Relations Leaders.
Additionally, the Association is linked to the most important business organizations in the country, including Concamin and Canacintra, but also maintains close relationships with organizations such as the World Coatings Council, whose objective is to improve communication and coordinate policies of global importance for the sector.
Another milestone worth noting is that Anafapyt holds the presidency of the Latin American Federation of Associations of Technicians and Manufacturers of Paints and Inks (LATINPIN), an organization founded in Argentina, which has been operating since 2014, whose objective is to have a common forum of representation for manufacturers from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico and Uruguay.
