Canada. Zentek has been awarded a research and development contract through Innovative Solutions Canada to test ZenArmor nanopigment in chromate-free, military-grade corrosion protection aerospace paint systems.
The tests will be conducted under the supervision of Dr. Qi Yang and Dr. Naiheng Song, research officers at the Aerospace Manufacturing Technologies Centre (AMTC) of the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) Aerospace Research Centre.
Among the objectives of the test is to confirm that ZenArmor meets the required aviation standards, optimize the concentration of this nanopigment in aviation paint systems and compare the corrosion protection of the nanopigment with the chromate-based paint system.
"We are grateful to have been selected for this ISC-TS by our partners at the National Research Council of Canada, which we believe is an important step in further demonstrating the effectiveness of our ZenArmor technology in corrosion protection paints," said Greg Fenton, CEO of Zentek.
"This is an area that has become more important because of the high cost of corrosion," Greg Fenton added.
"This award confirms the Government of Canada's commitment to working with innovative domestic companies to help address this challenge," said Fenton.
"Importantly, we see this as a potential precursor to commercialize our technology not only within the Canadian government, but also with other stakeholders."
