Latin America. Until this Thursday, October 27, Anfapyt receives justified proposals to escalate them in the new bilateral negotiation.
In a statement addressed to its partners, the National Association of Manufacturers of Paints and Inks (Anafapyt) has shared the proposal of rules of origin for the coatings sector as part of the negotiations of a free trade agreement between Mexico and the United Kingdom, which no longer belongs to the European Union.
The Ministry of Economy proposes the wording to determine the rules of origin and procedures related to origin established in the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (TIPAT), which meets the expectations of the authority and industrial sectors in Mexico.
The specific rules of origin for the coatings sector recommended to the United Kingdom are those agreed in the Mexico-Modernized European Union Free Trade Agreement (TLCUEM), which is a current treaty with similar characteristics.
The Association calls on its members so that, if it has marketing activities with the United Kingdom and the proposal of rules of origin presents an affectation to its activities, participate in the consultation and send its new proposal and justification before October 27 to Roberto Escamilla Cruz ([email protected]) in order to escalate their comments and participate in the new bilateral negotiation.

In Mexico there are 213 formal industries or paint producing centers. In addition, according to Anafapyt itself, the country consumes 1,143 million liters of paint per year, mainly architectural, without neglecting industries such as automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, petrochemical, among others.
