Arkema completes the acquisition of Special Polymers

Arkema

Latin America. Special Polymers is a key emulsion manufacturer in the region, achieving sales of around $40 million in 2021 and employing 230 people.

On September 1, Arkema finalized the acquisition of Special Polymers, a leading producer of water-based acrylic resins in Mexico. In this way, as recognized by the company of specialized chemicals and advanced materials based in Colombes (France), it strengthens the group's offer in solvent-free solutions and its position in a region such as Latin America considered fast growing.

Polimeros Especiales is a well-established Mexican company that produces high-performance water-based resins for a wide range of applications in markets such as architectural and decorative paints, textiles, pressure-sensitive adhesives and construction.

As part of Arkema's coating solutions segment, Special Polymers will strengthen the Group's position in high-growth markets, drive the development of more sustainable innovations alongside Arkema's other key solvent-free technologies and strengthen its presence in the Americas market.

"We are very pleased to welcome the talented Special Polymers team to Arkema. This company offers leading and complementary solutions in many diverse markets that will scale Arkema's solvent-free offering and advanced technologies," said Richard Jenkins, Senior Vice President of Arkema Coating Solutions.
