Latin America. In Mexico, the paint industry contributes 6.9% of the chemical industry's GDP.
The Board of Directors of the Confederation of Industrial Chambers of the United Mexican States (Concamin) had a private meeting in Veracruz headed by its president, José Antonio Abugaber Andonie, in the company of the governor of the state, Cuitláhuac García Jiménez.
In a well-known hotel in the municipality of Boca del Río, the projections of the national industry, and in particular in the South-Southeast region of Veracruz, were discussed in order to participate in the working groups undertaken in relation to the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (CIIT), directed by Rafael Marín Mollinedo.
As part of the 60 chambers and associations that make up the Concamin Board of Directors, the National Association of Paint and Ink Manufacturers (Anafapyt) reflected its willingness to support this important project from the coatings sector.
The CIIT is a project of the Mexican Government that aims to become a global logistics platform focused on the manufacture and movement of goods between the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic through the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.
This seeks to generate an attraction for companies to invest in the ten industrial parks that will be developed in the region where the corridor will be. For this, an investment of 4,600 million pesos of allocated budget is foreseen.
The Isthmus of Tehuantepec Development Program (PDIT) 2020-2024 defines five objectives. The main one is to strengthen the social and productive infrastructure in the isthmus region both in the state of Oaxaca, on the Pacific coast, and in Veracruz, on the Gulf Coast.
The remaining four objectives are to boost economic development, combat poverty, protect the environment and preserve the culture of the area.
