United States. Ashland's new Klucel MS HPC agent is a water-soluble non-ionic cellulose ether with a versatile combination of thickening and anti-sagging properties for use in zinc-rich inorganic primers.
It is a product suitable for permanent and temporary coatings sprayed on ship panels before welding.
"This new HPC technology enables a significant improvement in the dissolution rate of polar organic solvents. The product offers greater thickening efficacy against chemicals commonly used as thickeners and anti-sagging agents," says Robert Gibbison, Marketing Director of Performance Additives. "In addition, it is soluble in water and multiple polar organic solvents are used to control viscosity," he adds.
"Our customers are looking to improve their efficiency and improve the speed with which they can deliver the product to end customers," Gibbison adds. "The Klucel MS HPC gives them an advantage in a competitive market by offering rapid dissolution and also cost savings due to the lower dose needed in the formulation."
