International. Henkel introduced a new process control system that addresses key challenges in metal pretreatment, as customers increasingly seek to implement data-driven Industry 4.0 solutions.
In combination with the company's next-generation conversion coatings for multimetallic substrates, the Bonderite E-CO digital multichannel controller enables maximum corrosion performance and sustainability at minimized total process costs.
Bonderite E-CO DMC is a process control system that allows users to run complex metal pretreatment lines with up to 15 or more stages. It features an intuitive touchscreen PLC interface and supports fully digitized process control with flexible communication and remote access functionality.
"Thanks to its adaptive open system architecture, our new digital multi-channel control system will be easily integrated into the existing conversion processes and automation concepts of metal customers," said Maurizio Brancaleoni, global business development manager at Henkel's European Functional Coating Equipment Centre in Funo di Argelato (Bologna), Italy.
Bonderite E-CO DMC minimizes chemical use, water and energy consumption, as well as waste. In addition, it helps to avoid manual work and chemical exposure in metal pretreatment. All equipment and processes of configuration, adjustment, control and monitoring can be effectively handled by the controller, including the preparation and filling of the bathroom. The multi-channel system supports single and multiple production lines in the same building or in neighboring buildings. You can control a virtually unlimited number of process parameters and devices.
Bonderite E-CO DMC is equipped with an internal memory that stores all parameter and event data to create numerical, graphical and consumption reports, as well as to maintain a historical database. Comprehensive controller connectivity easily connects the system to other resources on local area networks and provides access to remote devices such as tablets and smartphones. It allows alerts with discrete data to be sent to selected recipients via SMS or email and can be integrated into cloud-based data-driven solutions.
