International. Hempel launched a new antifouling coating, Atlantic+, which offers flexible and reliable performance. The product is designed to protect the helmet from fouling during service intervals of up to 60 months. Ensuring complete operational flexibility, the new antifouling agent is suitable for all types of containers and all water temperatures.
Atlantic+ incorporates a powerful biocide package and a proven binder system. This ensures progressive and controlled automatic polishing from the moment the hull hits the water and up to 60 months later. For unparalleled mechanical strength, the new coating is reinforced with Hempel's patented microfiber technology at a higher level than the company's strongest load coating: Hempadur ultra-strength fiber.
The science behind microfiber technology involves introducing an internal skeleton of fibers into the paint to improve its mechanical strength, in the same way that steel bars can be inserted into concrete to reinforce a physical structure. Strengthening the antifouling coating in this way means ensuring protection against fouling in areas exposed to impact and abrasion; improved overcapacity; reducing the jet zones; and ultimately lowers costs for the ship's dry dock.
Atlantic+ is based on Hempel's proven and reliable technology and incorporates ingredients that improve antifouling performance and provide effective automatic polishing and smoothing features. Its proven binder technology and effective use of biocides ensure constant, progressive and controlled polishing in all commercial conditions.
