Spain. The coatings manufacturer Hempel officially opened its new Centre of Excellence in Barcelona. The center will focus on the research and development of passive fire protection coating products, a market in which Hempel aims to gain share over the next few years.
Through a statement, Hempel is committed to increasing its range of passive fire protection (PFP) coatings, and the entire Center of Excellence is dedicated to this field. The center is strategically located on the outskirts of Barcelona, as the company has a long and successful history in the region. The activities and results carried out in the center will have a global reach.
"We are determined to develop the coatings industry within the PFP field on a global scale," said Vice President and Group COO Lars Petersson. "PFP coatings are an important part of our growth strategy. But it's equally important to us to help protect the inside of our clients' assets and provide security for people who work or stay there. And applying the right coating is crucial here."
Since December 1, 29 employees have been working at Hempel's new Center of Excellence. They form a solid technical organization, consisting of highly qualified technicians, applicators, fire testers and scientists.
