International. PPG introduced a new powder coating system that is formulated to provide superior splinter and corrosion resistance to prolong the life of high-strength coil springs in OEM vehicles.
Based on a patent-pending technology using recoverable materials, the PPG Envirocron Extreme Protection powder coating system exceeds 150 test cycles as prescribed by SAE International's J2334 cyclic laboratory corrosion test, which is the automotive industry's strictest performance standard for this type of testing.
Specially formulated without fiberglass, the PPG Envirocron Extreme Protection powder coating is also easier to recover and recycle compared to a similar competitive product. Additional benefits include exceptional application transfer efficiency, a consistent film built on spring surfaces, and a wide application window for ease of use.
"PPG Envirocron Extreme Protection is a breakthrough in corrosion and chip resistant coating technologies, and serves as the first line of defense to prevent springs from corroding," said Shelley Verdun, PPG's powder coating product manager. "The double-layer process presents a sustainable approach and a completely new shock absorption mechanism for chip mitigation."
