Colombia. The paint industry in Colombia has been strengthening to face different challenges in issues such as sustainability, competitiveness and innovation, while preparing to comply with the regulations that will come into force, related to chemical substances for industrial use.
With the purpose of representing the industry and strengthening its management in these aspects, Acoplásticos, a trade association that represents in Colombia the industries of the chemical production chain, whose president is Dr. Daniel Mitchell Restrepo (photo), has been working on this agenda from its Acopinturas Sector Chapter.
During the last year, Acopinturas has brought together an important group of companies in the sector and its productive chain, to develop strategies from different areas such as: representativeness before the public and private sector, strengthening of technical capacities and promotion of competitiveness.
This has been achieved through the coordination of technical tables between government entities and industry representatives, spaces for the dissemination of relevant issues for the sector in partnership with public and private organizations, training activities and workshops on topics such as EMS, process safety and regulations and initiatives to promote the formalization of companies, among others.
The commitment of Acopinturas is to continue working for the growth of a formal and sustainable industry, through the execution of different strategies that allow companies to respond to the needs of the sector, consolidate effective communication channels to promote the informed consumption of paints in the country and, ultimately, position this important industry.
