Brazil. The Brazilian Association of Paint Manufacturers (Abrafati) published that eleven representations are underway against companies that produce outside the technical standards. Since last year, the fence against paints outside of technical compliance is being closed.
One of the aspects of the work carried out by Abrafati in this direction are the joint actions with the Anamaco (National Association of Merchants of Construction Materials), in the sense of raising awareness among resellers in relation to the illegality associated with the sale of these paintings.
The measures of a legal nature, however, are the ones that promise to bring the most direct effect, as shown by examples from previous years, when non-compliant manufacturers were the subject of public civil actions or negotiated terms of adjustment of conduct (TACs) with the Public Ministry.
In the last ten months, the number of representations against manufacturers that are repeatedly classified as non-compliant in the evaluations conducted by the Quality Sector Program - Real Estate Paintings was recorded. Abrafati indicated that in recent years, it has become one of the leading causes of death in the country. One action is conducted directly by the Brazilian Habitat Quality and Productivity Program (PBQP-H) and By Inmetro.
