United States. NACE International has formed the NACE Corrosion Consortia, a new service that facilitates corrosion mitigation research for companies, government agencies, research organizations, universities and other associations looking to solve corrosion problems.
"For years, our members have told us that declining corporate investment in research has hampered progress," said NACE International CEO Bob Chalker. "Government, industry and academia rely on this data, so they turned to NACE to help restore this vital source of information. Our board initiated an exploratory committee, which eventually led to the decision to launch a consortium to serve these groups."
NACE Corrosion Consortia is engaging several organizations to conduct research in key industries, including maritime, offshore ( wind), fish farming, additive manufacturing, construction and architecture. "Our goal is to provide knowledge and experience to companies and industries looking to mitigate corrosion," said Dr. Homero Castaneda-Lopez, president of the association. "With a consortium dedicated to corrosion control, stakeholders can seek out or share information and ultimately put it into practice in efforts that support NACE's mission to protect people, assets and the environment from the adverse effects of corrosion."
"While other consortia may have a corrosion component, nothing has a specific and deep focus like NACE's Corrosion Consortia," Castaneda-Lopez said. "With its long history of developing know-how in corrosion prevention and extending the life of assets, NACE is the ideal leader for negotiating partnerships and distributing new research and information."
