International. BASF opened a new laboratory and technical development centre for its dispersions and resins business in Australia and New Zealand. The new center will provide technical support and resources to help local customers develop new and sustainable innovations in the paints and coatings industry.
The new state-of-the-art laboratory facilities are located at one of Australia's leading universities, Monash University. The laboratory, located on the University's Clayton campus in Melbourne, will have access to the university's extensive facilities and expertise in green chemistry and engineering to complement BASF's global technical resources.
"We work closely with our customers to test formulations to ensure applications can deliver the benefits they seek, whether it's appearance, rheological properties, adhesion, color stability or other properties," said Greg Morrow, Business and Sales Manager, Dispersions and Resins for BASF Australia and New Zealand.
"We are delighted to have BASF co-located in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. Industrial partnerships are extremely important for a modern university, and we are committed to ensuring that BASF's technical development centre takes advantage of the opportunities offered by sharing," said Nick Birbilis, Director of Materials Science and Engineering at Monash.
The facility comprises two laboratories, offices and storage facilities and will be supported by three permanent chemical posts on site. The center will also provide support to other industries that use our dispersions and resins, such as construction, fiber adhesion and adhesives. It will also be available to customers of BASF's Performance Materials and Care Chemicals business.
