Colombia. Pintuco revealed that after four years of research, he obtained, from the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce, the patent for the invention of an anti-mosquito paint to control the vectors that cause diseases such as Dengue, Zika and Chikungunya.
The bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which can reach up to seven millimeters, has put in check the health systems of Latin American states, including Colombia. The latest reports of Zika outbreaks in 2014 and 2015 claimed that 1.5 million people worldwide were affected.
The company explained that during the development process different formulas were evaluated in search of one that would allow the molecule of the active substance to remain on the surface of the paint. After several laboratory tests, he found the formula with the right concentration, high effectiveness and persistent over time.
For this work, Pintuco had the collaboration of the Program for the Study and Control of Tropical Diseases (Pecet) of the University of Antioquia, and the German firm CHT Group, with whom he managed to develop this novel paint that fights the mosquito and is not toxic to humans or animals.
Now Pintuco will look for the best way to produce and distribute the product at a regional level, and then generate a marketing plan to attract and disseminate.
"In Pintuco we believe that the alliance of the company and the academy generates great benefits and helps the purposes we have as a country. Contributing to the health and care of the population makes us feel proud of our Pintuco brand and its integral management," says the official statement.
