International. BASF's Glasurit paint brand is celebrating its 130th anniversary this year, commemorating the date Max Winkelmann laid the company's foundation stone.
While in Germany, in 1,888, it was common to apply pigments and paint in two different layers, Winkelmann developed Color Crystal White, an innovative product that combined these pigments and binders into a single product. Thus, the philosophy of developing simpler products for users grew, which continues to serve as the basis for Glasurit's success today.
In 1925, the company began producing paints in the center of Münster, making possible the first application for spray cars in Germany. In 1964, line 54, the first system of metal bases for bodywork, was introduced and, in 1982, the systematic coordination of products with the Glasurit Ratio System for repainting processes.
In this way, the firm became one of the first global manufacturers to launch the water-based refinishing system, which has an easier, cheaper and safer finish.
Currently, Glasurit offers tools for color matching, technical certificates, consulting services, training centers and the Refinish Competence Center, a demonstration center in the repainting sector, designed so that workshops can achieve perfect and efficient results.
