International. In the face of increases in the cost of Azo intermediate compounds and related raw materials, Sun Chemical Performance Pigments increased its global prices in Azo pigments, specialty pigments and its pigment preparations, effective January 1, 2018.
"The cost of Azo intermediate compounds and other key raw materials has increased significantly and continues to do so, affecting the pigment industry," said Chris Weighill, vice president and product manager of classic pigments of the world, Sun Chemical Performance Pigments.
The executive added that, "the expectation is that there will be no short-term relief in sight for these rising costs, which will force us to raise our prices. While we regret the need to take this step, current market conditions dictate that we must adjust our prices. We will continue to explore other opportunities for cost reduction and productivity gains to offset rising raw material costs."
