International. PPG revealed that two of its paints, coatings and adhesives technologies won recognitions at the 2017 R&D 100 Awards in the Mechanical Devices/Materials category.
"PPG is committed to developing innovative paints, coatings and specialty materials that enable our customers to be more efficient, effective and sustainable," said David Bem, PPG's vice president of Science and Technology, and chief technology officer. The R&D 100 award is one of the most sought-after recognitions for innovation, and PPG is proud to use its extensive industry-wide experience to develop products that deliver solutions and drive an evolving market."
Award-winning products include:
PPG Premium Compact Process Primer: Although 70% of the energy consumed in automotive OEM assembly plants is traditionally attributed to painting operations, the PPG Premium Compact Process primer reduces cost, emissions and complexity by enabling wet-on-wet-on-wet application of a primer, base layer and transparent layer, no heated evaporation zones in the medium. This specially designed, high-solid primer expands the compact paint process to a wider range of vehicles than was possible by meeting stringent requirements for appearance, performance and performance.
- Construction Adhesive - Liquid Nails Fuze It All: is an innovative addition to the construction industry for both professional and DIY customers. The first product of its kind with a patented hybrid polymer formula takes the guesswork and uncertainty out of adhesive selection, and allows the freedom and flexibility of using a single product for a multitude of tasks. With twice the strength of fasteners alone, it binds almost all materials together in any weather condition, including temperatures ranging from -40 F to 300 F, and on surfaces that are dry, frozen, or wet.
