United States. BASF has closed the previously announced transaction to sell its bleaching clay and adsorbent minerals businesses to EP Engineered Clays Corporation, a subsidiary of EP Minerals, LLC, an engineering products company derived from industrial minerals.
The sale includes a production site and clay mine in Mississippi, and the sublease of mining rights associated with a mine in Arizona. A total of 66 employees have been transferred to EP Minerals.
"Divestment of our chlorine bleach and mineral adsorbents businesses from EP Minerals will help us focus our process catalyst portfolio on more strategic growth areas," said Detlef Ruff, senior vice president of process processors at BASF. "We thank our employees in Mississippi for their contributions and wish them future success as part of the EP Minerals team."
