United States. Eastman Chemical Company recently announced a manufacturing expansion focused on its Performance Films division at its Martinsville, Virginia, plant.
This expansion and investment will be completed by the end of 2017 and will increase manufacturing capacity for both paint protection films and window and glass protection films.
This expansion will increase the presence of the LLumar and SunTek brands, and is the largest Eastman has made to date. The facility will feature the latest technology to produce the highest performance films for the automotive and architectural markets. The expansion will provide, in addition to the highest quality products, a source of jobs for the Martinsville, Henry County community. This project is in addition to the US$40 million investment that was announced in September 2013.
"This expansion positions Eastman to rise to the challenge of the demand and growth of the high-performance protective film for windows and paints market that is being perceived around the world," said Travis Smith, vice president and general manager of Eastman's Performance Films business unit.
The news follows the recent launch of Eastman's new generation of Paint Protection Films that combine performance, aesthetics and easy installation. This has resulted in acceptance by distributors and customers around the world. Eastman continues to make investments related to innovation development, manufacturing and product quality, as well as marketing campaigns to develop and drive the growth of the high-performance film market.
